    SFC Quarterly Forum

Saturday, March 22, 2008, 10:05 AM CST [General]

    Report dated March 14, 2008

A few changes were decided upon that should strengthen the future of the Springfield Fencing Club.

Membership Dues - Effective immediately, 2008 Membership Dues will increase to $50/year individual & $100/year family. This increase is to enable the SFC to purchase and maintain club equipment. We have bought an electric scoring box, cords and reels. Club members may use these free during Open Fencing. (We also have lames and foils available for rent.) Member fees also cover the annual cost of our dues & insurance costs to the US Fencing Association. Membership year is January 1 to December 31.

Floor Fees & Equipment Rental - No floor fees for SFC members. Non-members will be charged $10/month. Equipment is available for rent as follows:

    • Dry equipment complete (mask, jacket, foil, glove) $5.00
    • Electric equipment complete (lame, electric foil/cord) $10.00
    • Elctric lame OR foil/cord $5.00

The equipment rental fees are necessary to cover wear & tear, and equipment upgrade costs.

Saturday Open Fencing Format - Saturday mornings will commence with a short 10 - 15 minute drill lesson, followed by open fencing. The drill will consist of fundamentals review with progressive skills (think Tactical Wheel). The skill sets will be based upon the USFA/US Olympic Committee curriculum. The drill lesson is free.
